Can I charge two EVs without upgrading my panel?

Often, yes. Power-sharing Wall Connectors split one circuit between two cars, and load-management devices pause charging when the house is busy. A load calculation on your actual panel answers it definitively — that is always the first step.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger?

In most South County cities, yes — a new dedicated circuit is permitted work. We pull it and meet the inspector. An electrician who offers to skip the permit is telling you something about the rest of their work.

Which charger should I buy?

For a Tesla, the Wall Connector is usually the right answer. For anything else, a name-brand 48A unit — hardwired if the panel supports it. Text before you buy and you will get a straight recommendation for your car and your panel, not an upsell.
